So, I guess I'll start a Substack?
If a new Substack sprouts in a Substack forest and no one is around to read it, does it make a sound?
I used to blog.
But with the general public’s adoption of microblogging sites (RIP Twitter) in the early 2010s, I stopped. It was easier to flippantly toss my thoughts out in 140 characters or less than to put actual thought into long-form posts.
Coincidentally, I go more in depth about blogging, microblogging, and my return to writing on my new blog at ninacdot.com! /shameless plug
🧐 Okay, I’m gonna keep up with both a blog and a Substack?
…Maybe!
I always tell my students, “Turning in something is better than nothing,” which is something I generally believe. And I’ve been holding on to this idea that I would return to writing more for a while, so it’s time to at least post something. Even when distractions inevitably hit me, at least I can pick up where I left off later now that everything is set up.
🤨 Why do both?
According to DataReportal, the average number of social platforms people use each month is at least six. Content, audience, vibes… there are valid reasons to have multiple venues for connection! There are different ideas I have for my blog and my Substack, and I’m curious to see where both platforms lead me.
Here’s my initial ideas for each:
Blog (https://ninacdot.com) - Long-form reviews of what I’ve been into: apps, video games, books, TV shows and movies, purchases, and whatever other hobbies and interests catch my eye.
This Substack you’re reading right now - Shorter form reviews of the above, longer versions of
Our Info Dump Substack - Oh ho! A third warrior has entered the arena!
and I started a joint Substack account in which we’ll be sharing bits of our life, focusing on our side hustles and projects. If you want to learn how I earn at least $100 a month sharing my data and opinions or how Ariel earns over $1,000 a month with her ventures, you can start with our first post! 👇🏽
👀 Want to follow along?
I don’t expect anyone to read everything, so feel free to follow @ninacdot on Threads or Instagram where I’ll be sure to mention every time I post anything. Then, if any headline tickles your fancy, you can click to read on! Whee, we love choices!
I will also try include at least one photo of Nugget every time I publish on Substack to reward anyone who read (or at least scrolled) this far. You deserve it.
